Fantastična romansa meksičkog reditelja Guillerma del Tora “Oblik vode” dobila je čak 13 nominacija za dodjelu 90. Oscara, pet više od ratne drame ”Dunkirk” i šest više od crnohumorne drame “Tri plakata ispred Ebbinga u Missouriju”.
Na prethodnim ‘barometar’ dodjelama Zlatnog globusa, te nagrada Udruženja filmskih kritičara ”Tri plakata…” je bio najzapaženiji slavodobitnik.
Što se tiče predviđanja ”Hollywood Reportera”, njihova redakcija uspješno je odgonetnula čak sedam naslova koji će se boriti za titulu najboljeg filma ”Bježi!” (Get Out), ”Tri plakata…” (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), ”Oblik vode” (The Shape of Water), ”Dunkirk”, ”Lady Bird”, ”Novine”(The Post) i ”Skrivena ljubav” (Call Me By Your Name), a promašili su za ”Projekt Florida” i ”Ja, Tonya”.
